About this record

GDACS places the earthquake at 01:17 UTC on 6 February 2023, near 37.17°N, 37.03°E, with a reported depth of 17.925 km. Its Red alert is a GDACS severity classification; the epicenter is a location marker, not a map of all affected communities. [1]

IFRC GO identifies the Turkish Red Crescent Society as the national society for emergency appeal MDRTR004. The appeal targeted 1,250,000 people. That number is an appeal target, not a verified count of people affected or reached. The operation describes displacement and access difficulties in remote areas, showing why needs extend beyond the earthquake coordinates. [2]

International Blue Crescent's separate GlobalGiving project describes food, water, blankets, health support, and spaces for children across affected areas of Türkiye and Syria. The project is linked here because its own page explicitly names this earthquake response; its work should not be confused with the IFRC national society appeal. Follow the related cards to examine the organization and project independently. [3] [4]
